Food guide pyramid


Different people have different eating habits and different life styles. Some are sedentary and some are labors. They require different level of nutrients to intake and fulfill their energy requirements. Therefore nutritionists establish a food guide pyramid consisting of six segments and each segment represents the one food group.
Food guide pyramid is the graphical representation of a healthy diet established for a sedentary person.
Segment 1:
                   In first segment those foods are included that are recommended to use sparingly. It includes fats, oils and sweets.
Segment 2:
                   In second segment 2-3 servings of diet are recommended. Meat, poultry, fish, dry beans, eggs and nuts are included in this group.
Segment 3:
                   Third segment also consist of 2-3 servings of daily diet and it consist of milk, yogurt and cheese group.
Segment 4:
                   In fourth segment 2-4 servings of fruits are recommended.
Segment 5:
                  This segment consists of vegetables and its 3-5 servings should be consumed.
Segment 6:
                   Last segment consist of bread, cereal, rice and pasta. Their 5-11 servings are recommended
